White Apple Tree: Indie Band of the Week

Posted by Guelixa Garcia On December - 26 - 2010

white apple treeWhite Apple Tree consist of two young brothers with a desire and passion to play music for the world.  The addition of the drummer and bass player complete the sound.  They have over 2,900,000 plays, 2,000,000 profile views on MySpace and 36,000 friends.  They are often compared to Shiny Toy Guns, Coldplay or The Faint, blending blasting dance beats with melodic piano and vocal melodies.  The live show is a high energy performance that brings everybody to the floor.

Their sound has been described as eclectic, complex, occasionally awkward and witty. Although Ryan Lawhon, with brother Taylor Lawhon and drummer Stefan Mac are based out of Northern San Diego and South Orange County, their music is far from the Southern California surf rock norm.  With lush ambient guitars, quirky synths and the occasional “four on the floor” kick, White Apple Tree has created a unique and refreshing take on modern electronic music.

La Junta: Indie Music Universe Band of the Week

Posted by Guelixa Garcia On October - 8 - 2010

La Junta began early 2004 in a small back room of an old little house in a student ghetto, built on a foundation of house parties with a sound combining various musical styles.  Influenced by so many genres, including jazz, blues, rock, reggae, Latin and hip-hop music, every song is significantly different from the next.  Attempting to blend each sound, La Junta believes they have found something very refreshing in an industry of cardboard cutouts.  With their unique style as a backdrop, La Junta reflects what they observe in everyday life as well as represent who they and where they come from in a positive way. This is the beginning of “SouthwestFunkRock”.

Any of La Juntas 4 albums are amazing fingerprints for the group.  However, nothing compares to the energy, fun, and musicianship of a live La Junta show.  Fans often compare La Junta to groups such as Spearhead, Ozomatli, 311, O.A.R., Dave Mathews, and Sublime.  Because of this La Juntas fan base continues to grow exponentially, based on a consistent incline of CD sales and attendance at live performances.  It is true that every group in the music industry believes they are "fresh" and "Unique"… and we are no different.  Where we do differ is the response from fans is that we are "fresh" and "unique".  Something new, and we didn't even have to tell them.

Nick Pena: Guitar/Lead Vocals

Aaron Lamb: Drums/Backup Vocals

Matt Ojinaga: Bass

Delmone Taylor: Tenor/Alto Saxophone

Danny Hart: Percussion/Backup Vocals

Heartdrive: Indie Music Universe Band of the Week

Posted by Guelixa Garcia On July - 25 - 2010

HeartdriveOperating out of the back room of a computer store the members of this band decided to call themselves Heartdrive because of the sound-alike hard drive.  The name Heartdrive is also significant because of their passion for original music.

Heartdrive has what it takes:  a professional level of talent, a youthful passion for music, tons of experience, a tight & exciting live show, and most importantly: great songs.  They have 100's of shows in touring experience and have completed and released an album independently.  They've also built a huge fan-base as an unsigned artist.

Together, they have a sound that is catchy, energetic, and unique.  Heartdrive songs are connected by tight musicianship, contagious vocal melodies, and emotion throughout the performances and lyrical content.
