Indie Rock lovers old and new,you can lift up your heads, wipe off those mopey faces and stop mourning the death of rock music. I have good news.
Rock is not dead. It's been revived and "It's Elephant's" is responsible.
Undeniable talent, erratic and unrestrained. Real rock music is living and breathing again.
Atlanta, GA's "It's Elephant's" are gearing up to release their sophomore album "Gets Along", which I was fortunate enough to preview.
Rock shocked right off my critical little pedestal. I listened thrilled and excited for the bright future of rock knowing that this band is making real moves and illicting a precise and soulful funky rock sound that has been previously smoothered out of existence.
After only a year of playing together, the band is already a hometown favorite, and has toured extensively in the southeast.
Band members include Brent Jay, Garrett Range, David Fountain,
and Justin Shotwell. Jay and Range left The Letters Organize, a band that Dave Grohl once named as
one of his favorite up-and-coming bands, after a seven year run and a international tour with The Offspring, and formed "It's Elephant's" out of its ashes, recruiting Fountain on backing vocals and guitar. They later added Shotwell to complete the band.
Throwing unexpected curve balls, but staying in the park, this band has the wisdom to know itself.
Projecting a remarkable energy that remains constant, but original throughout the album, the tracks range from soulful, sexy and blusey to crisp and alternative.
This sophmore album set to release June 26th is most certainly going to make its mark with songs like
"Black cock down" which comes in swinging then turns dark, breathy, slow and reminisent. Yet somehow severe.
Creeping and pushing the sound, rocking and pounding original rythms somehow maintain an organic feeling. Executed with wisdom and confidence. Smart but not at all pretencious, the lyrics are creative and sharply articulated even in the harshest holler.
Beware of this band, the tour dates are limited but if you can get to one of their shows, I'm guessing the talent and confidence will have you a self-proclaimed groupie in 2 drinks. Your moral standing may just lie down.
So It's Elephant's, without you fishing for a compliment, I would love to give you some feedback.
You're fereal.
