How To Submit Article or Blog Content To Indie Music Universe

Thank you for your interest in submitting content to Indie Music Universe.  We’re currently looking for the following:

• Artist / band highlights and features
   
• Interesting news in the independent music industry
   
• Indie album reviews
   
• Upcoming events (tours, appearances, concerts, etc.) that feature popular independent artists and groups
   
• Any other content related to independent music that may be interesting to fans of indie music

If you’d like to contribute any of the above, then we’d be happy to consider your content for inclusion on our site.  Please be sure to read the the additional information and guidelines below for more details on submission.

What We Define As Independent Music

Technically, independent music is defined as artists, groups, and musicians that produce music and are not signed to or affiliated with any of the major commercial record labels. However, there are major artists and groups out there that are not signed to major labels, yet have distribution through them. 

At Indie Music Universe, we are only interested in covering those artists, groups, and musicians that are not signed to or affiliated with any of the major record labels and do not have distribution deals with any of the major or major-affiliated companies.  In other words, we aim to cover those artists, groups, and musicians that are either unsigned or signed to independent record labels and whose album and songs are self-distributed or distributed through independent distributors.

Also, we seek to cover only those artists and groups that have a significant fan base or following.  They must have at least one album completed and released or be very close to completing one. Unfortunately, submissions for artists and groups that have no evidence of a decent following and do not have much song material completed will not be considered for inclusion on our site.  Our main objective is to help fans of indie music to discover good quality independent acts.

Genres We Cover

Indie Music Universe covers all genres related to independent music, which includes but is not limited to:

• Rock/pop
• Urban (hip hop, R&B, soul, etc.)
• Heavy metal
• Punk
• Alternative
• Latin (Latin (Reggaeton, Salsa, Merengue, etc.)
• Electronica (house,trance, D&B, jungle, etc.)
• Country
• Jazz
• Experimental/instrumental/eclectic
• Reggae

Guidelines

1. We only accept submissions from the original author of the articles or a publicist hired by the copyright owner to submit material here.  By submitting material, you acknowledge that you are legally entitled to distribute the work and to allow it to be redistributed.
    
2. Submitted articles, blog posts, and features must be well written, with minimal spelling and grammatical errors.
    
3. If including images, you must be the owner of those images or have permission to include them.
    
4. We do not pay for submissions, but we strongly encourage you to include an "about me" section at the end of your article. This resource box can contain a maximum of three sentences and a link back to your personal website, blog, or social media profile page.
    
5. You may also include up to two instances of anchor text or direct links in your article that can point back to another article on your blog or website, or any other resource that relates to the content of the article.  This does include appropriate affiliate links as well.
    
6. There is no restriction on the length of the article, but we recommend between 400-600 words.  However, if you’re submitting an artist feature — the more interesting content the better.
    
7. If any edits in your content other than spelling and grammar need to be made, we will notify you prior to posting.
    
8. By submitting, You grant Indie Music Universe non-exclusive non-transferable right to use short excerpts of your article for promotional purposes. Your full article may be distributed by any automated system used by this blog without violating your copyright (included but not limited to E-Mail and RSS feed). However, we will always credit you as the author and provide a link back to your site.
    
9. Profanity out of context is not permitted in posts.
    
10. We do not guarantee that your submission will be posted on on our site.  Indie Music Universe reserves the right to deny publication for any reason.
     
11. You can submit as many entries as you would like in any given week.
     
12. A link back to Indie Music Universe from your site is not required, but we definitely will appreciate it!
