Ced Linus confronts his "Nightmares"
In this deep mixtape, "Nightmares," Ced Linus confronts every demon that he’s had over the years and put it all together into a classic mixtape.
Ced Linus is a Hip-Hop artist on the rapidly growing Minneapolis based independent record label, Pledge Empire Records. He is also part of the duo group The Pledge Empire, a URB’s Magazine Next 1000 nominee. On this effort, Ced Linus gets personal in telling his story of what’s been going on in his mind in the past year.
Ced Linus opens "Nightmares" with the hard-hitting track "Death Bed," explaining the difference between him and the commercial rappers that he thinks floods the genre. A notable song on this classic mixtape is by far "Britney Spearz," with its banging beat and great hook: "been shaved off my hair off like i’m Britney Spearz".
Linus then comes back with an easy going flute laced song called "Hate." On this track, he gives his take on what it feels like to think outside the box in a culture where everyone thinks alike, as well as lends some advice to others who feel the same way — "Keep the faith and you will see it through". Another favorite is "Fall in Line," a revolutionary track on the mixtape that includes audio from Malcolm X and also includes the only feature from God’s Prince, the other half of Linus’s group The Pledge Empire.
The "Nightmares" mixtape includes everything that an artist and a fan could possibly ask for: honesty, hope, and a hot beats. Pledge Empire Records is in the process of setting up 2009 tour dates. One way you can catch Ced Linus early is at the What’s Up Lounge in Mankato, Minnesota on April 24th, where he will be performing songs off of the mixtape. Also, be on the lookout for Ced Linus’ solo album debut in the late summer called "The Dream Is Over".
